Year End Finances Review -- the Kakeibo Method
Sorry if this is the 3rd or so place you've seen me talk about this today, but back in March of 2024, I started the Kakeibo Method of Budgeting
So, how did I end up ...?
Well, thanks to an ongoing medical issue deciding to kick it up a few notches (I hit a deductible on my High Deductible Medical Insurance, just sayin) , a kitchen accident that meant a trip to the emergency room, and having to buy a new garage door opener unit, I had 4 months in a row in the Red, and one of those Red months was $2200 over budget!
AND
I still ended up in the Black for the year to the tune of $1826.56 due to the way it made me slow down, hold myself accountable, and be mindful of my spending.
After taxes and various deductions, plus a small side-hustle, I have a take home pay that averages $3100/month. My savings equaled a paycheck with a quarterly bonus, and if I hadn't had 4 straight months of getting slammed, I think it would've been closer to $4000 of savings.
Heck yes, I'm continuing this budget method into 2025!
