I just paid off my credit card balance. In its entirety.
I may have a couple of dollars of interest to pay next month, but that sucker is GONE.

Now a fantastic thing... *thinks* Oh, well, I paid off my car earlier this year, and I got a new job with decent pay (while also staying on at my old one part-time just because). Even after splurging a bit for my birthday recently, I've still managed to add over $600 back to my savings account and get my checking account back up to a nice level. I was really pleased about it when I checked my accounts this morning.

Also, well done on the two jobs. HAVING SAVINGS IS AWESOME AND SO ARE YOU!!!

And um... me.... Um.... I'm a pretty good friend. :) And not as far in debt as I could be!

fantastic thing? um? well, my fiancee and I have our shit together enough to be able to pay for our wedding completely up-front with cash and checks and such, and don't have to resort to debt (or wrangling money from parents).
i feel like i'm gloating or something.
*goes back to lurking*

(Also, celebrating your achievements: totally not gloating. It's inspirational--you did it, and others can aspire to it!)
(Also also, well done on Not Borrowing Money from your parents. I love my Mum and Dad, I do, but I prefer to leave borrowing money for disasters.)

Thanks for the reassurance. And more YAY for you

I'm. Still juuuust before the stage of buying a Major Purchase (eg. $1000 or more) without going into debt. BUT I WILL ACHIEVE IT IN THE NEXT YEAR.

Fantastic thing? Hmmm... Well, I've managed to save up some of my student loan so that I have a bit to fall back on now that it's taking a bit longer than it's supposed to. And I have an awesome family that is willing to help me until I can graduate and get a job. (Then I have to pay back my massive loan, but oh well. :~D)

Good things? Well, I'm working more than 40 hrs between two jobs while going to school this summer in an attempt to save and make extra $$. That's the overachiever in me! haha

And congrats on working the two jobs! I hope that works out for you!

My credit card and car loan debt are consolidated into my mom's replacing-her-roof loan now, which is nice for me in the short term--I'll start throwing money at them once I have a more stable job. But in the mean time, I finally have a decent job (albeit contract, and hence term-limited), which means I can do things like look at spending an entire month's disposable income on cat dental bills and not want to cry. Much.
I'm still digging out from the underemployed-couldn't-afford-things-like-car-maintenance hole, so not really saving money yet...but I can afford car maintenance and vet bills (one of the cats has asthma now, and I need to get her thyroid tested, in addition to the upcoming dental bills of doom), and I have health and dental insurance and no legit excuse anymore for not going to a human dentist myself. So it's a step in the right direction.
I'm just super-glad I don't have to count pennies and skip healthcare in order to pay for food. I haven't added to my debt in a long time, but living on my paycheck came at the expense of not doing important things.
Also the Feds now think I make enough money to make (token) payments on my student loans! Woo.

Yay for having a good job!

I have nothing awesome to add to that, sadly, but I'm hoping that things change in the future :)

And thank you!
